[How we work](https://arbocode.com/process)

Infrastructure problems tend to start the same way. A few resources clicked together in the AWS console grow into a production system nobody can fully rebuild from memory. We move that infrastructure into Terraform so every change is reviewed, versioned and repeatable across environments. On top of that we build CI/CD pipelines that replace a manual deploy checklist with a process that runs identically each time, containerize workloads where doing so earns its operational cost, and set up the monitoring and alerting that flags a problem before a customer does.

Cost and incident readiness are part of the same conversation. A cloud bill that doubled without explanation and a production outage with no defined response are both symptoms of infrastructure nobody has fully mapped. We audit what's actually running, attribute cost to the services generating it, and run incident drills so your team has practiced the response before a real one happens at 2 a.m.

This is infrastructure and delivery pipeline work. For the application code running on top of it, see backend development. For automating processes rather than infrastructure, see software automation.

## Problems we are usually brought in to solve

- Our cloud bill doubled and nobody can explain which service caused it.
- Deploys are a manual checklist and the last one took down production for an hour.
- We have no idea what happens when our main region goes down.
- Infrastructure changes happen by clicking around the console and nothing is written down.
- Our containers work locally and fail in ways nobody can reproduce in staging.
- We want to move to Kubernetes but don't know if our team actually needs it.

What we deliver

## Cloud & DevOps services

- ### Cloud Architecture
Architecture design across AWS, Azure or Google Cloud matched to your actual traffic and reliability requirements, not a default template copied from a different company's scale.
- ### Infrastructure as Code
Moving infrastructure into Terraform, so changes are reviewed before they apply, environments stay consistent, and a past configuration can be reconstructed from version control instead of memory.
- ### CI/CD Pipeline Design
Automated build, test and deploy pipelines that replace a manual checklist, with rollback built in so a bad deploy is a quick revert rather than an incident.
- ### Containerization
Docker for consistent environments across development and production, and Kubernetes when the workload's scaling and orchestration needs actually justify its operational overhead.
- ### Monitoring and Alerting
Dashboards and alert rules tied to what actually matters to users (latency, error rate, availability), tuned to avoid the alert fatigue that makes teams start ignoring pages.
- ### Cost Optimization
Attributing cloud spend to the services and teams generating it, then right-sizing, reserving capacity or eliminating what's running unused, with the savings tied to specific changes.
- ### Incident Response Readiness
Runbooks and practiced drills for the failure scenarios most likely to hit your system, so the first time a region goes down isn't the first time anyone has thought through the response.
- ### Cloud Migration Planning
A staged plan for moving workloads to the cloud or between providers, sequenced to minimize downtime and validated against real traffic before a full cutover.

You receive

## Deliverables

- Terraform modules committed to your repository
- A working CI/CD pipeline with automated rollback
- Monitoring dashboards and alert rules

- A cost breakdown by service with an optimization plan
- Documentation of the resulting architecture

How we work

## Our cloud & devops process

1. ### Infrastructure and Cost Audit
We map what's actually running, how it was provisioned, and where the cloud bill is actually going before recommending any change.
2. ### Architecture and IaC Design
Target architecture is designed and written as Terraform, reviewed against your reliability and compliance requirements before anything is applied.
3. ### Build Pipelines
CI/CD pipelines are built to replace manual deployment steps, with automated tests gating each stage and rollback built in from the start.
4. ### Containerize and Deploy
Workloads are containerized where it earns its cost, tested for parity between local, staging and production environments before going live.
5. ### Monitoring and Alerting Setup
Dashboards and alerts go live tied to metrics that reflect real user impact, tuned to avoid noise that trains the team to ignore pages.
6. ### Incident Drill and Handover
We run a practice incident against a realistic failure scenario and hand over runbooks and access so your team can run the response themselves.

## When Kubernetes Is Worth the Operational Cost

Kubernetes solves real problems: consistent scaling, self-healing deployments, resource efficiency across many services. It also adds real operational cost: someone has to run and understand the cluster, and a small team without that experience can spend more time managing Kubernetes than the workload it's running.

For a handful of services with predictable traffic, a simpler container platform or even direct virtual machine deployment often gets the same reliability with less overhead. We recommend Kubernetes when the number of services, the scaling pattern or the deployment frequency actually justifies it, and say so plainly when it doesn't.

## Terraform for Infrastructure That Used to Live in the Console

Infrastructure managed by clicking around a cloud console has no history: nobody can say with confidence what changed last month or reconstruct the exact configuration if a resource gets deleted by accident. Moving it into Terraform makes every change a reviewed, versioned commit, and makes the current state something you can read in a file instead of reconstructing from memory.

The migration itself has to happen carefully: we import existing resources into Terraform's state rather than recreating them, so the move doesn't cause the very downtime it's meant to prevent.

- Existing resources imported into Terraform state, not recreated
- Changes reviewed as code before they apply
- Environments kept consistent through the same modules
- Full configuration history in version control

## Reading a Cloud Bill Before Optimizing It

Cost optimization done before cost attribution usually just cuts the easiest thing to find, which isn't always the thing actually driving the bill. We attribute spend to the specific services, teams or features generating it first, using tagging and billing reports, so the optimization work targets the actual cause.

From there, the fixes are usually some mix of right-sizing over-provisioned instances, reserving capacity for predictable baseline load, and shutting down what's running unused, each with a savings figure attached to the specific change.

Budget

## What drives cost and timeline

- ### Number of environments and regions
A single-region setup with one staging environment is a smaller project than a multi-region architecture built for regional failover.
- ### Current infrastructure maturity
Infrastructure already partly managed as code migrates faster than infrastructure that exists only as manual console configuration nobody has documented.
- ### Container and orchestration complexity
A handful of stateless services on Docker is simpler than a Kubernetes cluster running stateful workloads with custom autoscaling rules.
- ### Compliance logging requirements
Regulated workloads that need a verifiable audit trail of every infrastructure change add design and tooling work beyond a standard setup.
- ### Expected traffic and scaling needs
Provisioning for steady, predictable load is a different design problem than provisioning for large, unpredictable traffic spikes.

FAQ

## Questions about Cloud & DevOps

How do you know if we actually need Kubernetes or if it's overkill for our traffic?

We look at the number of services, how often you deploy, and how variable your traffic actually is. A small number of services with predictable load usually doesn't need Kubernetes's operational overhead. If the answer is no, we'll say so and recommend a simpler container setup instead.

Can you migrate our infrastructure to Terraform without downtime?

Yes, by importing your existing resources into Terraform's state instead of recreating them. The infrastructure keeps running exactly as it is; what changes is that future modifications go through reviewed, versioned code instead of manual console changes.

Why did our cloud bill double and how do you find out which service caused it?

We attribute spend to specific services and teams using tagging and billing reports before recommending any cuts. A doubled bill is usually one or two specific causes, such as an over-provisioned database or an unused resource left running, not a broad, even increase across everything.

What does an incident readiness review actually involve?

We identify the failure scenarios most likely to hit your specific system, such as a region outage or a database failover, write or update the runbook for each, and run a practice drill against one of them. The goal is that your team has rehearsed the response before a real incident, not just read about it.

Do you work with Azure and GCP or only AWS?

All three. The right choice often depends on what you're already using, existing vendor relationships or specific services you need, and we design the architecture and Terraform modules for whichever provider fits your situation.

Can you set up CI/CD if we currently deploy by hand?

Yes. We build a pipeline that automates the same build, test and deploy steps your manual checklist currently covers, with automated rollback if a deploy fails. Most teams see this as the highest-impact early change, since it removes both the manual error risk and the time cost of a manual release.
